Markus Jevring - Bachelor of Science

I finally have my degree. I got it in the mail a couple of days ago from the university.
It doesn't feel as much of an accomplishment, rather than final closure to this chapter of my life.
I am finally done with Uppsala, and I'll be moving back to Stockholm for the summer tomorrow.
I am so done with living in this 19 square meter appartment.

I've had copies of the exam made and sent down to Holland, to the admissions office of UTwente.
Hopefully, I'll be getting a mail soon with the final ok form them, so I can start fleshing out the details on living and banking and insurance and whatnot.

I'm now in the middle of packing all my stuff into boxes. everything takes alot more place this way, and this tiny appartment isn't really made for storage of this kind.
Anyway, time to get back to packing...

Exercise Plan

Now that spring has finally come, and some would agree summer is upon us, I had this great exercise plan in mind. I would go for a long walk/run every weekday until work started.
When work started, the plan was to go to the gym at work, every other day or so.

This run/walk plan was based on the premise that being outside was actually physically possible.
Last week, we saw temperatures range between 20 and 24 degrees C. Wonderful weather for being outside, I'm sure you all agree. Running under those conditions was nothing short of fantastic.
As I boot up my computer today, my little weather widget tells me it's 7 degrees C outside, and cloudy...
Now, I know some of you have the discipline to go out running in weathers like this, and I admire that, but I'm doing this for my own pleasure and welfare, so I'm sure as hell not going to go out there and freeze my nuts off, just to "stick with the program".

I'd really like to keep on running, but with weathers like there, it's just not possible.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that summer will return.

Shadowrun

So, one of my favourite pen and paper RPGs is coming to the xbox 360. Granted, I will never own this console, but it's pretty damn cool that such a good game has made it into the world of computer games. (Again, it was available on the SNES and Genesis, but that's another story)

However, they've done things to the story line and the mechanics of the universe that differ radically from the "real" shadowrun.
The thing is, I know where they're coming form with this, and I'm quite ready to accept it.
Mitch Gitelman, the Studio Manager for the game layed the reasons out in this blog entry on their site.
I must say, he makes a compelling argument.
On the other hand, we have this blog post, which probably represents alot of the older fans of the game.
I'm not sure about this, as they all are valid points. I can imagine that there are things that the studio could have done better, but I also strongly believe that if they had stuck 100% to the pen and paper game, it would not have come out on a console ever.
Much like how some books need to be adapted for the silver screen, RPGs normally need some coercing to fit into the realm of playable console games.

You should decide for yourself, so here is a link to the trailer, which looks absolutely faboulus btw. ;)

Gumball 3000 2006

A member of the Swedish miata owners club was down at the start of the 2006 Gumball 3000 rally in London.
Got some very nice pics of some very nice cars.

One day, I hope to participate myself. Preferably with something a bit better than my mx-5.
